WHO IS DAVID?

This is my story

David Poland was born in Vancouver, WA. His family roots run deep in the state. His grandfather's family moved to Eastern Washington back when it was a territory in the 1800s as Quaker missionaries. His grandmother's parents moved to Ellensburg from Salem, Ore. when she was a toddler, and that is where eventually she married, and became a parent and foster parented many kids. David's mom followed her siblings who moved to Clark County when she got a teaching job in Portland, and then began teaching children all over Clark County. The entire family moved to Clark County in the 1950s, to be together, because family matters.

David Poland got his BA summa cum laude in Macro Social Work and Government in Washington DC, at Gallaudet University, and will obtain his MA degree in Social Work by May 2021 while attending school remotely online during COVID-19. He most recently worked as a U.S. Census enumerator, a sworn-in Federal employee, gathering local demographic data door-to-door. The Charter actually has requirements of use of that population data for redistricting the boundaries next year. This is something he knows very well, and is one of the most competent people you can elect to work on this section of the Charter.

David Poland was also chosen to be a part of Leadership Clark County's Class of 2018, where he met with elected representatives from each city in District 2 and elsewhere in the county. He also is a tireless volunteer, using his skills to educate and improve the county in many ways. Among the list of volunteerism, David was appointed by the Clark County Council to a nine-year term on The Community Action Advisory Board (CAAB), which makes recommendations to the Council for which agencies need support to help prevent homelessness.

David Poland believes that your families matter as much as his own, and wants to ensure that farmers, owners of small mom & pop businesses, and individuals who live in District 2 have the ability to get their issues addressed in a timely fashion by the Clark County Council, without a run-around, or confusion of what those agencies need to do. He will work with 14 others on the Charter Review Commission to fix what needs it, if you elect David E. Poland for position 3,
